The Lipoprint® LDL Subfraction Testing System is an in-house diagnostic testing procedure for measurement of cholesterol in all lipoprotein fractions and subfractions. Lipoprint is cleared for in vitro diagnostic use and perfect for any clinical laboratory. With Lipoprint, you provide physicians with advanced and comprehensive lipoprotein analysis used for screening, treatment decisions, and monitoring patients at increased risk for CHD.

Lipoprint measures cholesterol levels in VLDL, IDL, Large buoyant LDL (LDL-1 & LDL-2), Small Dense LDL (LDL 3-7) and HDL in serum or plasma. The National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) has identified Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) as the primary target for cholesterol lowering therapy. Recently, it has been determined that LDL consists of various subfractions which differ in size, density, and atherogenic potential. Unlike large buoyant LDL, Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) remnants, Intermediate Density Lipoprotiens (IDL) and small dense LDL are most closely associated with atherosclerosis and heart disease. In fact, small dense LDL is associated with a three-fold increase in risk for coronary heart disease (CHD). A comprehensive analysis of the cholesterol in all lipoprotein fractions and subfractions provides a better assessment of CHD risk than traditional lipid profiles alone.
