The US Patent Notice of Allowance Issued To Quantimetrix for its new Dipper POCT Urinalysis Dipstick Control

September 6, 2017

Los Angeles, CA, – Quantimetrix announces that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a Notice of Allowance of U.S. Patent Application # 14/745,657. The patent application is directed to a liquid holding apparatus for insertion of a test device into a test liquid. The invention includes various technical innovations relating to the formation and use of a novel in-vitro diagnostic pouch device. This revolutionary device ultimately serves as the vehicle for the new Dipper POCT Urinalysis Dipstick Control, the first single-use liquid urinalysis quality control to market.

The technology behind the pouches results in the transformation of flexible thermoplastic film into a control device that is sufficiently rigid to accept the full immersion of a urinalysis dipstick test. The device is peeled open to a specific point after which the peeling feature is locked. This innovative design feature exposes an opening that allows for the rapid insertion and removal of a dipstick test.

The clear side of the pouch allows the user to visually verify that all of the test pads on the urinalysis dipstick has been saturated by the control. This method replicates the full dipstick immersion technique that is used when testing patient samples. The single-use feature of the control reduces the risk of contamination that can result from multiple openings and/or dipstick immersions.
